Our contemporary doors are handcrafted using the Alutech BF73 bi-fold door system. Choose from individual panels up to 1200mm wide and 3000mm high, all finished with the narrowest of sightlines and offering exceptional thermal performance.

Our 10-year warranty on the powder coated finish and a 12-month warranty on the handles and hardware come as standard.

A U -Value of 1.4 can be achieved by way of triple glazed units, with 28mm double glazing offering 1.6 to meet building regulations.

1. Are bifolding doors thermally efficient?

Yes! Our bifolding doors are manufactured using a top-quality aluminium system that benefits from a thermal break for maximum thermal efficiency. This means that, depending on glass choice, our bifolds can achieve an impeccable U-Value of 1.4.

2. Do bifold doors add value to a home?

Bifold doors are most desirable due to their ability to flood your home with natural light. On top of this, they’re practical for day-to-day use as an easy access to your garden. Along with a whole host of other benefits, these are what can make bifold doors a great addition to any home, and most certainly a good investment.

3. Do I need planning permission to get bifolding doors?

In most cases, if you’re installing bifold doors into your home you will not need planning permission. However, if your property is a listed building or the bifolds are forming a part of a new extension, always ensure to check with your local building regulations first.

Equally, if you are based within a conservation area, check with your local council before going ahead with the installation.

4. How do I measure for new bifolds?

To measure accurately for your new bifolds, follow the steps outlined below:

1. Take a tape measure and record the height of the opening in 3 places; at the left, middle, and righthand side of the opening from the exterior.

2. Repeat step one, this time with the width of the opening.

3. Take the smallest measurements for both the height and width, then deduct 10mm from each to allow for tolerance when installing.

4. Lastly, make sure that the aperture of the opening is square by taking the measurements of the diagonals and ensuring they are the same length.

5. What kind of lintel is needed for bifold doors?

As bifolding doors are not weight-bearing, you will need to have a supportive lintel that is either wooden, concrete, or steel cavity.

As a general rule of thumb, you should also ensure that the lintel has at least 150mm bearing at each end, and that the length of the lintel is at least 300mm more than the opening width.

6. What size of bifolds do you offer?

Our bifolding doors are available in sizes of up to 8400mm in width and 3000mm in height, with the smallest sizes being down to 1200mm and 1850mm in width and height respectively. We also offer fixed pane options which benefit from even more size options, available upon request.

7. What is a traffic door?

A traffic door operates as a single door within your bifold that can be used for moving between rooms or in and out of your home. This can be a great benefit of bifolding doors are it allows you to manouever between spaces without having to open the bifold up completely.

As bifolds ‘fold’ in concertina style with two panes together, this means that traffic doors are only available with an odd number of panes. Please refer to our bifolding door designer to see our configuration options.

8. What colour can I have my bifolds?

Our bifolds are available in three popular colour options: black, white, and anthracite grey. We even offer the option to choose different internal and external colours, so you can select whatever colour combination your heart desires for the inside and outside of your bifolding door.
